A conversation about the numerous and very specific challenges that Muslim women growing up and living in the UK face on an everyday basis.
Together with Cllr Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council & Dr Alyaa Ebbiary, Lancaster University Lecturer in Religion, Society and Politics, we explore the struggles British Muslim women face both within their own communities as well as when operating in the mainstream.
With an increasing number of Muslim women reporting prolonged experiences of marginalisation, discrimination, judgement and stigma from across the board, the aim of this event is to kickstart an ongoing and collective conversation around these issues. The hope is to formalise a narrative that can be taken to community leaders, employers, politicians and more to raise awareness and to help decision-makers support Muslim women in their organisations effectively.
